Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: During the process of completing the assignment I learned that I have many people that are supportive of me than there are people that are not. For some sections of the assignment I had to reflect deeply on previous experiences and I found it very difficult to think of negative experiences. This process gave me a better sense of appreciation for the people around me. I realized that there many people rooting for me and I now have more motivation to keep striving for my best.  Summary: Today in class we worked on creating similes and metaphors for part 1 of our poem assignment. Reflection: The assignment was a refresher for me in creating metaphors. It was something different and helped with my figurative language.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response: During the break I went to Ponce City Market. At Ponce I explored all the local shops and ate some delicious food. The local shops were wonderful, they had all types of shops from clothes, toys, and decor. One of the shops I entered had a small thrift store as well as a famous vintage photo booth. It was a pretty cool store but the prices were crazy high. The food at Ponce was amazing and there was a variety of restaurants. I decided to go with Mexican food at Minero. I ordered a chipotle steak burrito and the three amigos starter. The service and food was great but also very filling. There was definitely no room for dessert. After enjoying a wonderful lunch I walked around some more and headed home to the end of my day adventuring out.  Summary: Today in class we read a poem and analyzed the deeper meaning of similes and metaphors. Reflection: The poem was very important in identifying the theme of resilience. Analyzing the poem also helped with thinking of ...

Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Prompt Response: I miss watching TV, specifically cable TV. With the uproar of streaming services in the past 20 years it's been so much easier to watch shows and movies on your phone. I used to stay for hours in the living room watching whatever shows or movies that would pop up. Sometimes I sat through a random movie marathon that would run during the holidays. On top of that, commercials these days are not the same as they used to be. Nowadays commercials are animated or have AI but before that it would be infomercials, mascots, or even people as their brand person. My favorite was the Sonic commercial with the two guys sitting in their car. Streaming services don't give off the same energy or feeling as cable TV once did.  Summary: Today in class we worked on writable pages 1-7.  Reflection: Working on writable helped out with providing evidence and analyzing the text. Splitting the chapter pages also helps with the reading.

Write about something that you heard that you wish you could unhear.

Prompt Response: I wish I could unhear my favorite song Foolish by Cuco. If I could listen to it as if I never heard it that experience would be surreal. I remember that first time I heard that song I had to turn up the volume and keep playing the song over again. To this day I play that song at least a couple of times a week. It's like being in my own world.  Summary: Today in class we presented our group projects.  Reflection: Working on the group project was okay. I definitely think I could have done a bit better compared to other previous projects.
