Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt Response: A time I had to step out of my comfort zone was when I participated in a baby shower contest. I went up with my cousin and the contest was to drink a full baby bottle filled with soda. I had to do this in front of so many people and it was quite nerve wracking. The cheering from the crowd did help a bit but I do believe every time I do step out of my comfort zone I become a little more confident with myself. Unfortunately I did not win the contest but surprisingly my cousin did. She won a hydro flask bottle. It was for sure a fun and exciting contest to be a part of.  Summary: Today in class we answered Prologue Reflection Questions. Reflection: The questions helped develop my critical thinking and analyzing individual quotes. The answers were personal experiences similar to what is happening in the quote.  JANUARY 9

Describe a hike, long walk, or outdoor experience you have had and explain what it was like physically and mentally. If you have never been on a hike, describe a time when you were outside your comfort zone or had to rely on yourself in a challenging situation. Explain what you learned from the experience.

Prompt Response: When we first went to Stone Mountain I remember the long inclined walk it took to get to the top. It was so painful the first time. My legs were burning, my face all hot and red, and extremely sweaty as if I got out of the sauna. And the Georgia weather was not helping at all. Not only was it hot but it was humid and the air felt thick. The worst part was reaching the very steep section of the hill where there's a rail to go up and down from. I was not only walking up but also pulling myself up since my legs were just ready to come off. Physically I was exhausted and mentally I was ready to quit but there was no other way to get to the top or back to the bottom without having to press the emergency button or having to pay to get on the sky lift. I was not going to pay for a ride nor was I going to embarrass myself by calling the emergency service with no actual emergency. I had to tough it out and complete the hike. Once I did reach the top it was so satisfying an...

Reflect on what you learned about the creative process while designing your poster.

Prompt response: While creating my poster I was thinking of ways to think outside the box and include creative details. One of the creative ideas I had was to make the background color of the text boxes be those green mangoes with a little yellow. Another one which is sort of funny is the lightning McQueen picture I included for one of my similes. I personally like that picture the most. To get these creative ideas into the poster definitely took a learning curve since I rarely use software like adobe express.  Summary: Today in class we finished our posters. Reflection: Finishing my poster was a bit smoother and faster than when I started my poster. I mainly loved searching photos for my similes and metaphors.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt response: The hardest topic from the worksheet would be the questions about what people thought about you or have said things to you that are negative. The reason it was hard was due to the fact that I did not really care to remember those negative comments for long. After while I forgot about those times and went on with life. Some comments did stick with me but over time I changed and those comments no longer apply to me. Summary: Today in class we started on our simile and metaphor poster. Reflection: I think I started off okay with the poster. I do think I spent too much time on coming up with the layout of my poster though.
