Reflect on a specific gender expectation imposed by your culture that has been the most challenging to navigate. In 2-3 sentences, describe one clear example of this expectation and explain why it has been difficult for you. Ensure your response is concise, vivid, and focused on personal experience.

Prompt Response: The most difficult gender expectation would be learning the inside and out of maintaining a car. Not only are cars seen as mostly men interest but it’s one of the things a man is expected to know. The most challenging part is gaining the knowledge and practice without a car. I currently don’t have a car so learning how to change a tire, check the oil, change the oil, check its tires, and knowing basic maintenance is very difficult. There’s been a couple situations where the car had a popped tire and I wasn’t able to help. I personally felt guilty and hopeless for not being able to help.

Summary: Today in class we had an introduction to gender roles power point.

Reflection: The introduction was very important for the next reading “Why I Want A Wife” by Judy Brady.

You are working on your storymap which is reflection on your past. Thinking about your future, as you graduate high school, what role does the Atlanta metro area play in your life? Do you plan to stay or move away? Explain your reasoning.

Reflect on a time when you noticed someone being treated unfairly or saw a situation that didn’t seem right. How does this experience connect to the emotions or ideas expressed in one or both poems?
