As we approach the end of the course, reflect on the texts, discussions, and concepts explored in Multicultural Literature. What is one significant lesson about culture or identity that has stood out to you? Explain why this lesson is meaningful and analyze how it connects to your own experiences or perspective.

Prompt: The most significant text I’ve read during the course would be the book Wild. Although as a class we did not finish the book, I went out and bought the audio version on my phone. I listened to it every so often and I have personal notes for it as well. The book really gave a different perspective of falling down and raising back up to success. I loved how detailed and interesting the process of surviving and human trust the book gave. I could only imagine how the scenery was during the actual hike. Personally I’ve been through many ups and downs and have had to fight through them with and without help. The book itself shows many examples of that and I really connected with them. Summary: Today in class we watched a movie on kids journey to school. Reflection: I’ve always heard of kids having to cross rivers and walk miles to school but I’ve never seen it in a film so watching the film changed that for me. I also realized how fortunate I am compared to others around the wor...

How important is education in your life right now? Do you think students around the world value school the same way you do? Explain your reasoning.

Prompt: Education to me is very important right now. In the current state of the economy it seems the more one knows and has experience in the more likely they will succeed in getting a high salary job. Education is also something my parents were never able to afford and experience past high school level so by going to a trade school or college it is very important. From social media post I’ve seen many students nowadays do not prioritize their education. Many students unfortunately do not have access to education as others do. Some students that do have access are not using it for their personal benefit, they are ditching school or dropping out instead. I want to make my family and myself proud and that’s why I prioritize my education.

After viewing your classmates’ presentations, which cultural group did you find most interesting? Explain why. Then, reflect on how this presentation changed or deepened your understanding of that culture.

Prompt Response: I found the group that used the movie Iron Man the most interesting and the most compelling in changing my perspective of Middle Eastern stereotypes. The movie Iron Man is one of Marvels most popular movies and I personally never gave it a second thought of the Middle Eastern men being used as the villains. This changed my view of how film can use real world violence or politics to make their movies more appealing to a certain audience. Here in the U.S it’s common for movies to be patriotic and use the current political problems as enemies. I now see how even the most successful movies can be stereotypical. Summary: Today in class we presented our projects. Reflection: By presenting the projects it improved my performance in public speaking. It also helped me improve my skills in getting an idea across and understood.

Which factor plays a greater role in shaping your future career choice: your genuine interest and passion for the field, or the financial benefits and stability it can provide? In your response, explain which one you prioritize and why, and consider how this decision might impact your long-term happiness, motivation, and overall quality of life.

Prompt Response: I believe one's true interest and passion is what builds up their career. Many people from a young age know what their passionate about and that could be working with animals, playing sports, and even basic subjects like math and science. Those people typically go into jobs or internships within those fields. For other people like myself may not know what their passion is at first but I would say it comes after trying many types of activities and determining if those are interesting enough to pursue. I for now prioritize my genuine interest since I at least know what I like to do and work in. In the long run I think I will be happier and better off doing what I love instead of just working for money that I may not get a chance to fully spend until I retire. It's good to know my personal interests so my current job can fund my hobby later on,
