Write about a relationship in your life that changed over time as you grew older or more aware. What made the dynamic shift, and how did your understanding of that person evolve?

 Prompt Response: My relationship with my cousin went from being competitive and constant fighting to being a role model and understanding. My cousin had a very rough situation at home and her behavior was affected, so getting along was hard at times. Now that we’re both older and have a better understanding of each other we get along like siblings. I try my hardest to be a supportive and better role model for her. 

Summary: Today in class we read pages 51-60.

Reflection: Today’s ready was very interesting especially seeing how far and yet so close Nettie and Celie were to each other. And now seeing Nettie’s situation after leaving mister’s house was very empowering in the way that Nettie never let herself get into a terrible situation again.

 Prompt:  I’ve always been curious about historical and government corruption. I think this curiosity stems from world history and political history but it sure is something I think about every now and then. Currently many people believe for example that the U.S is falling into corruption. Our current president has caused many to retaliate his actions and administration. But it’s not just the U.S that has government corruption other countries in Africa also have major corruption issues. My main curiosity is to find or know where it all started and who is responsible for it (historically wise). Many say it’s the “Deep State” others say it’s the “Illuminati” who ever or what ever it is I’d like to know.     Summary: Today in class we finished our characterization poster.  Reflection: Finishing the poster wasn’t too difficult. I did struggle a bit on the analysis of Rose’s role in the play.

After hearing your classmates’ storymap presentations, choose one classmate’s story that stood out to you. Write about what you liked or learned from their journey and explain why it was meaningful to you.

 Prompt Response: I really enjoyed Roxxane's story map. It had an interesting and serious tone to it. The interesting part was the curse that runs in her family. I was surprised and shocked to hear that the majority of the deaths in her family have been all males. That was very shocking. I did like how for some parts of her story map it got serious. The situation with her mom pressuring Roxxane to follow in her footsteps and become a Jehovah's Witness was very relatable. It was relatable in a sense of knowing how it feels to be pressured to follow your parents foot steps in something you don't agree with or want to do.     Summary: Today in class we presented our story map and scored our classmates' story maps.  Reflection: Seeing my classmates present their story maps really showed how different people had it growing up and how different everyone's experiences were. And it gave me an opportunity to learn more about my classmates.

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

 Prompt Response: During a reception at a church for a wedding, the pastor mentioned that you and your partner should never sleep apart. He mentioned that separation always starts off with the little things. Someone gets mad and they sleep on the couch or they go out and sleep over at a friends house. He encouraged forgiveness to one another and that every day is a new day to try again. The reason that stuck with me was because I've seen many relationships in my family never last long or end up terribly. I don't ever want that to happen to me in the future with my wife.  Summary: Today in class we presented our posters.  Reflection: I liked our poster for Rose except for one thing. For the most part I liked everything but next time I’ll get a card to read off of better.
