Why do you think filmmakers continue to use stereotypes, even when they can be harmful or inaccurate? Explain one reason discussed in class and give your opinion on whether this justifies their use.

  Prompt Response: I think filmmakers use stereotypes due to no creativity. A lot of movies follow a similar structure with certain characters being the funny punchline. For example in the Pixels movie there is the main protagonist along side his dorky best friend. This style is repeated again in Dairy of a Wimpy kid. The dorky side character is portrayed to either have glasses, enjoy a weird hobby, or be nerdy looking in general. I do not think this is justifiable for the reason being many other films have had films succeed without the dorky side character. The movie Iron lung has succeeded without the need of the dorky side kick. 

Summary: Today in class we kept working on writable.

Reflection: By continuing to work in writable I was able to improve my analysis and evaluation skills. I was also able to read more about solutions film writers can take to not have stereotypical characters.

 Prompt Response:  I once had a dream that I was living in a lavish home. The inside was massive and had a giant white fluffy couch. I was sitting next to someone while on the couch and something was playing in front of us like a TV. I felt comfortable and relaxed but it was a different type of relaxed. I felt at peace. That dream lasted what felt like forever but it was so calm and peaceful. It was one of those dreams where once you wake you try going back to sleep to have that dream again.   Summary: Today in class we finished reading Fences.  Reflection: Finishing the book off with Troy's death was and wasn't expected. I thought Troy would at least have a few last words and possibly reunite with Cory but no. The book ended with Troy's family going to his funeral.

You are working on your storymap which is reflection on your past. Thinking about your future, as you graduate high school, what role does the Atlanta metro area play in your life? Do you plan to stay or move away? Explain your reasoning.

  Prompt Response:  After I graduate I plan on moving out of metro Atlanta. Although I'd like to stay for the job opportunities and I need something new and fresh. While I love Atlanta, living here would not be my top option. I'd like to explore the U.S and the world and I can't do that by staying in Atlanta. I've been to South Carolina and I loved it. I've also been to Chicago, didn't like it much but it was nice. Traveling and seeing new places made me realize there's a lot of things I can do and places I can visit.   Summary: Today in class we continued working on our story map.  Reflection:  The story maps are a good way to reflect on our pass and see the things we've done and learned. Reflecting on our old selves really shows how much one has grown.

Reflect on a time when you noticed someone being treated unfairly or saw a situation that didn’t seem right. How does this experience connect to the emotions or ideas expressed in one or both poems?

 Prompt Response: One of my old friends had transferred to an online school to help his parents out with bills. His dad worked in welding so my friend went to work and picked up welding. My friend was in the area and visited me at work. I didn't recognize him at first. He was covered in dirt and soot all over, from head to toe. It hit me right then and there how hard some people had it. My friend said he liked his job but seeing a barely 18 year old covered in dirt and having aged so quickly was devastating. Similar to the poem, my friend who was dealing with hard labor at such a young age was saddening, especially knowing he could've been enjoying his senior year with friends and school events. Summary: Today in class we read two poems: "Songs of Innocence- The Chimney Sweeper" and "The Chimney Sweeper: A little black thing among the snow".  Reflection: The poems showed a dark side of what life used to be for kids. Thankfully now we have laws and regulation...
