As we approach the end of the course, reflect on the texts, discussions, and concepts explored in Multicultural Literature. What is one significant lesson about culture or identity that has stood out to you? Explain why this lesson is meaningful and analyze how it connects to your own experiences or perspective.
Prompt: The most significant text I’ve read during the course would be the book Wild. Although as a class we did not finish the book, I went out and bought the audio version on my phone. I listened to it every so often and I have personal notes for it as well. The book really gave a different perspective of falling down and raising back up to success. I loved how detailed and interesting the process of surviving and human trust the book gave. I could only imagine how the scenery was during the actual hike. Personally I’ve been through many ups and downs and have had to fight through them with and without help. The book itself shows many examples of that and I really connected with them.
Summary: Today in class we watched a movie on kids journey to school.
Reflection: I’ve always heard of kids having to cross rivers and walk miles to school but I’ve never seen it in a film so watching the film changed that for me. I also realized how fortunate I am compared to others around the world.
